Aidan Hoyle's poetry
Metropolis
While city steeples stand against the stars
Young men grow old discussing life in bars
You can smell the summer in the rain
As office-workers rush to catch the train.
The green light floods the city square below
Hot-city-night-people passing to and fro
Above the prawn-blue pigeons sleep so calm
A contrast to the wild men - women charm
Evening-walking, hearing talking,
A couple kissing caught in lights
Evening-walking, hearing talking,
The night's a darkness lovers light...
The green light floods the city square below
Hot-city-night-people passing to and fro
Above the prawn-blue pigeons sleep so calm
A contrast to the wild men - women charm
Instrumental - sax 278KB
The night-club's neon sign invites us in
The dance floor's heaving and the air is thin
Join in a rythmic frenzy in the morning hours
In the metropolis you can feel the power.
Evening-walking, hearing talking,
A couple kissing caught in lights
Evening-walking, hearing talking,
The night's a darkness lovers light...
RISING FIGURE
Evening-walking, hearing talking,
A couple kissing caught in lights
Evening-walking, hearing talking,
The night's a darkness lovers light...
The green light floods the city square below
Hot-city-night-people passing to and fro
Above the prawn-blue pigeons sleep so calm
A contrast to the wild men - women charm
Over box house hills rises yellow sun
Street-women meet and silk-shoed lovers run,
With dust of diamonds in their hats and hair..
They disappear like magic in the morning air..
